Bosses get a chance when he notices your work is left and you are asking for overtime for that. Everybody can be replaced no matter how good you are. Be in that position where your boss will have to think twice before firing you.
As an employee, you are renting your time, brain and sometimes body to the employer, that doesn't mean that you are sold. There's a huge difference between a slave and an employee. You can take reference from the labor law of your country.
